Defiance College Defiance College is an independent, liberal arts college affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The campus includes eighteen buildings and access to the 200-acre Thoreau Wildlife Sanctuary. Defiance College features programs in the divisions of: arts and humanities; business, education and social work; and natural science, applied science and mathematics. Northwest State Community College NSCC is located in Archbold, Ohio, and serves the six-county area. We help companies create a talent pipeline! We have the resources and the partnerships to help any business establish a state certified apprenticeship - internship program. High School Apprenticeship Programs: APT Manufacturing Solutions APT Manufacturing Solutions training center is host to a two-year on-site state certified training program. First year students are scheduled for Basic Print Reading, Machining and Benchwork classes in the fall semester, followed by Industrial Electricity and PLC 1. The second year students take college courses on Advanced Machining, 3d Modeling, Robotics Programming and Advanced PLC & Communications. The students attend their local high school in the morning and APT in the afternoon. They are learning through both hands-on and classroom environments in the areas of manufacturing basics, machining, electrical engineering, electrical panel building, and robot programming. The program consists of building a robotic packaging cell for a theoretical customer. These classes are open to Central Local School District and Hicksville Exempted Local Schools through the College Credit Plus (CCP) program. Interested high school students should work with their guidance counselors. MEC (Maysville Engineering Corporation) MEC is host to four engineering technology college classes offered at their Defiance facility. Introduction to Engineering and Manufacturing Processes are offered in the fall semester, followed by Engineering Graphics & Sketching and Microprocessors in the spring semester. These four courses provide the student with a foundation to pursue a career in an engineering discipline. We hold summer camps each year with the intention to make middle school age students aware of the opportunities in Defiance County. Summer STEAM Camps 2024 Camp Video Exciting Changes For 2026! Our previous Summer Manufacturing Camp has been an incredible experience for Defiance County students, bringing together Defiance, Tinora, Ayersville, Hicksville, and Fairview Schools for hands-on learning and industry exploration. New in 2026, Defiance County Economic Development is partnering with Northwest State Community College. NSCC has an extensive camp course listing for grades 1-8. By partnering with them we are able to serve a wider range of grades and offer students choices on camps that are suited to their interests. All camps are STEAM-related, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics. We are committed to sponsoring 25 Defiance County students at $125/each in grades 1-8 for a fully funded camp experience.
