Baker Shindler- A Good Mix for Defiance County

After all, Baker Shindler is one of the oldest general contracting firms in Northwest Ohio, becoming incorporated in 1921 by Frank Baker and Douglas C. Shindler. Baker Shindler continued operations under Douglas C. Shindler, the first of four Shindler generations to follow. The company is currently under the management of Andrew Shindler. The company began constructing schools and commercial buildings and has grown from there.


In 1947, the construction firm diversified by constructing the first ready-mix concrete plant in northwestern Ohio. In 1982, the firm expanded yet again by purchasing the O.B. Workman Ready Mix Plant in Paulding, Ohio, and serves over a 50 mile radius.


Baker Shindler Company has been instrumental in the building of Defiance and the surrounding areas. Successful projects Baker Shindler have been apart of include supplying their ready-mix for area schools, government facilities, homes, and local businesses like Defiance Community Auditorium, Defiance ProMedica Regional Hospital, Johns Manville, and more. If you are a Defiance resident, you likely drive on the bridges crossing the Maumee and Auglaize Rivers which was constructed using the ready mix concrete from Baker Shindler. The Baker Shindler Company has been a monumental business for northwest Ohio. The community is proud of the success the company has experienced and appreciate their past, present, and future endeavors in Defiance County.
