We hold summer camps each year with the intention to make middle school age students aware of the opportunities in Defiance County. Summer STEAM Camps Summer Camp 2026 a Great Success! New in 2026, Defiance County Economic Development partnered with Northwest State Community College. NSCC's summer camp offerings have grown over the years, and serve grades 1-8. By partnering with them we are able to serve a wider range of grades and offer students choices on camps that are suited to their interests. All camps are STEAM-related, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Mathematics. Through our new initiative in 2026, we sought to provide scholarships with the help of our generous donors: TC Energy, Northwest State Community College, General Motors Defiance, and Johns Manville. Through these partnerships, we were able to send 22 Defiance County students on fully funded camp experience. Through the camp scholarships, we were able to remove the financial barrier for Defiance County students to participate. We look forward to bringing this scholarship program back for Summer 2027.
